LE Pli

Le Pli is in Bur Dubai, Creekside. The site has so many values that can be used, the cultural diversity and the interaction between the different social classes enriches the site. The connection between the water, the heritage area, and the other developments create an ambiance of folding all the classes found in Dubai and to enrich city life. Le Pli is a fold form the landscape up to the highest level of the building, where it is a continuous strip that folds and shifts to create different spaces for a healthier office atmosphere. The buildings host startups that need different spaces to experiment and work on their business. The culture in the social groups interacting in the site is translated where different fields meet and interact in the project.

Creek Mosque Competition

This design was a competition entry for the iconic mosque competition
by Emaar. The main concept of this design was combining multiple
aspects. one of which is an abstraction of the traditional mosque form
to send the message that Islam is a religion for all times. This abstraction
was achieved by combining the minaret and the main body of the mosque
and now that the minaret serves only as a symbol it now hosts all the services
and acts as a wind tower to relate it to catch air for the interior
space.. Another aspect is the form is an abstraction of a sail relating to
the history of the site. As for the third and last aspect to the design
is the description of the movement of the wandering Darwish which is a
symbol of the human being and his relationship with God.

A Sustainable Elderly Housing in Hamburg

Architecture and space are not only a building but an experience that affects people. Healing through architecture is the driving concept for the design. The elderly are people who have a lot to offer but fail because of health, social and care difficulties. In this elderly house, we designed the spaces starting with the modular rooms which are respecting the accessibility standards and create a comfortable environment for the elderly. The rooms share some sun-rooms and seating areas that enhance their physical activity and communication.

A focal element in the space is the community ramp which creates platforms with seating areas where board games are to be played. This ramp offers a lot of daylight in which is important in the heating of the space and their healing process. The social environment and connecting people through this ramp is a major driver of healing and staying active, along with having a view towards the community side which makes them feel part of it and another side that overlooks the terrace and the race club with the surrounding landscape.

Observing greenery and having visual connections with the surrounding context creates this transparency that advocates the feeling of being part of everything. The second floor hosts the multipurpose area and the storytelling room which host art performances, musical events, and the elderly tell stories of their amazing life lessons. The building is oriented to capture the sun and deviate wind away from the building.

Al Souq Shopping Complex

Sustainable retrofitting following LEED cores

This project was a sustainable renovation project of an existing Souq in Dubai. The original design had a lot of problems in ventelation and waste of materials. It also had a problem with day lighting. These were the main aspects that were targeted in this renovation project. A lot of the materials were recycled in elements that were much needed for this structure to be appealing and sustainable flowing the LEED categories.
